Woodbury Country House

Tucked away in the Worcestershire countryside, Woodbury is a spacious country home created for bringing people together. Sleeping up to 12 guests across the main house and its adjacent Shepherd’s Hut, it is an ideal setting for family gatherings, milestone birthdays, reunions, wedding stays and relaxed weekends with friends.

Surrounded by gardens, countryside and mature trees, Woodbury feels wonderfully private, yet is within easy reach of Bromsgrove, the M5 and the wider Worcestershire countryside. From long summer evenings in the garden to cosy weekends gathered around the house, there is plenty of space to settle in, slow down and enjoy being together.

A house made for gathering

At the heart of Woodbury are its generous shared spaces. The large kitchen provides plenty of room for preparing everything from leisurely breakfasts to celebration dinners, while the dining area makes it easy for the whole group to sit down together.

There are several places to relax throughout the house, including the comfortable lounge and bright sun room overlooking the garden. This combination of large communal rooms and quieter corners means a group of 10 or 12 can comfortably spend time together without ever feeling crowded.

The house has been thoughtfully modernised while retaining the warmth and individuality of a much-loved country home. It is comfortable rather than formal, somewhere guests can genuinely settle in and make their own for a few days.

Six bedrooms and plenty of privacy

Woodbury is particularly well suited to groups because of the amount of private bedroom and bathroom space available.

The main house accommodates up to 10 guests, with a mixture of king and double bedrooms. Three bedrooms are conveniently situated on the ground floor, including two with en-suite facilities, making them particularly useful for guests who prefer to avoid stairs.

Five of the bedrooms have their own en-suite facilities, helping to make mornings considerably easier when the house is full.

For groups of up to 12, the adjacent Shepherd’s Hut provides an additional double bedroom. Set just outside the main house, it offers a charming private retreat while still keeping its occupants very much part of the gathering.

Step outside

The outdoor space is one of the things our guests love most about Woodbury.

The house opens onto a large private garden with plenty of space for everyone to spread out. Enjoy a morning coffee surrounded by birdsong, a relaxed afternoon in the sunshine or drinks together as the evening draws in.

The private hot tub is a favourite place to unwind, while garden games, including croquet and table tennis, add a little friendly competition to a weekend away.

There is also a summer house with covered outdoor seating and a separate indoor home-office space, useful for anyone who needs to quietly catch up with work during a longer stay.

And then there is the Potting Shed Bar, a characterful little garden bar that has become a firm favourite with guests. It is a great spot for evening drinks without having to leave the property.

Celebrate together

Woodbury works particularly well for those occasions when getting everyone together is more important than having a packed itinerary.

Birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions, pre-wedding stays and long-overdue weekends with friends can all be enjoyed in one place, with enough room to cook, eat, relax and celebrate together.

Private chefs are welcome by prior arrangement, so you can turn an evening at the house into something special without needing to organise taxis or choose a designated driver.

We don’t host large parties or events, but Woodbury is very much a house for celebrations shared by the guests staying at the property.

A peaceful Worcestershire setting

Woodbury sits in the rural village of Dodford, surrounded by some beautiful Worcestershire countryside.

You can step out for a country walk, explore the surrounding lanes and footpaths or head to one of the nearby pubs. In spring, the local bluebell woods are particularly beautiful and can be reached on foot from the house.

For those wanting to explore further, the location provides a great base for discovering Worcestershire and the surrounding area, while Bromsgrove railway station is around a 12-minute drive away.

Despite the peaceful rural setting, access is straightforward, making Woodbury a convenient meeting point for groups travelling from different parts of the country.

Everything you need for a relaxed stay

Woodbury combines the character and space of a country house with the practical things that make a group stay easier.

Guests have access to Wi-Fi, private parking on the driveway for up to eight cars and a Type 2 EV charging point. The kitchen is well equipped for group catering, while the multiple bathrooms and generous living areas mean the house works just as well in winter as it does during the summer months.

One well-behaved dog can usually join you by prior arrangement, so four-legged members of the family don’t necessarily need to miss out either.

Your time, your way

There is no particular way to spend a stay at Woodbury.

You might fill the weekend with walks, meals out and exploring Worcestershire. You might arrange a private chef, open a bottle in the Potting Shed Bar and spend the evening in the hot tub. Or you may simply enjoy having the people who matter to you together in one place, with nowhere you need to be.
